Weekend trip warriors
This whole summer, I have not spent more than one week at home. I have packed and unpacked and repacked and unpacked time after time. Don't get me wrong - I'm definitely not complaining. I love traveling. But as the weeks went on, I noticed that I kept paring down my makeup bag, trying to get away with carrying as little as possible.
These are my 5 hero products this summer. While I've traded out other things here and there, these loyal products never left my pink glossier pouch, and I carry them with me all the time.
1. IT Cosmetics - Your Skin but Better CC+ Cream : I've already gone onto my second tube of this stuff. I love that it has great coverage, but never looks too thick. Luckily, I had a pretty good skin season (knock on wood), so I didn't need to use a heavy hand. I normally sheer out the formula with a damp Real Techniques beauty sponge. Leaves you with a gorgeous finish that looks like your skin! Most of all, I LOVE that it has SPF 50. Wait for it - it has a physical and chemical SPF! Perfect for the summer.
2. Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner - Intro(vert): I am no stranger to the Marc Jacobs Eyeliners. I use the black one almost every day on my upper lash line to make my lashes look fuller. It's incredibly waterproof, smudge proof, sweat proof, etc... As soon as summer came around, I decided I wanted to do something bright and fun (but still wearable) with my eye makeup. Enter turquoise eyeliner. Nothing says summer to me more than tan and glowy skin, turquoise eyeliner, and nude lipstick. I used this bright eyeliner on my lower water line (in lieu of nude), and I was immediately into it. It still gave me that eye-opening effect, but with a little more electricity and personality.
3. Mint lip products: This summer was HOT. I welcomed any chance to cool off and refresh with open arms. My two picks for minty lip balm are pretty self-explanatory. Glossier's Balm Dot Com has been a ride-or-die product for me for a couple years now. When they released mint, I knew my hoarding habit would continue. It's the much-loved formula with a mint kick. It even tastes like mint! Rituals Cosmetics lip balm with SPF 15. This was my first Rituals non-body product purchased. If you haven't tried their body products, you need to. They are beautifully scented and reasonably priced. favorite products are the "Dao" shower gel and shower oil. Smells like a spa. Anyway, I wasn't surprised that the lip balm also earned its way into my hand bag. The packaging is secure (also reminiscent of Fresh Sugar lip balms), it has SPF, it's very refreshing (without burning!), and keeps your lips soft for a surprisingly long time.
4. Burberry Eye Shadow - in Almond: I first heard about this shade from YouTube goddess, Claire Marshall. And I agree with everything she said at the time. It's a really great and versatile shade. I use it to accentuating my crease and give my eyes a little more depth. It blends beautifully and the packaging has kept up nicely too. Believe it or not, I have only used this eyeshadow for 2 months (which is so not like me). Burberry Almond + mascara = perfectly flattering and natural-looking eye makeup!
