I'm 27 years old and I still struggle with breakouts. It's not fun, but it's the truth. The spironolactone helps me manage my hormonal acne, but it doesn't remedy the problem 100%. So I'm always looking for products that benefit and treat in more than one way. Basically? I'm looking for products that can cure my acne and stop the hands of time from affecting my skin.

A few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to meet the wonderful people at Cane + Austin. After talking about my skin type, they generously offered to let me try out one of their products: The Acne Retexture Pad

The Basics: These treatment pads are soaked in a solution that consists of 2% Salicylic Acid, and 5% Glycolic Acid. Glycolic Acid exfoliates the skin, increasing the turnover rate of your skin cells. For that reason, it's great for fading scarring or hyper-pigmentation. Salicylic Acid reduces bacteria, which helps prevent new breakouts from forming.

How To: After cleansing, I use these treatment pads on my face AM and PM. It's very user-friendly. I take one of the treatment pads and gently swipe it all over my face. I even take it down my neck a little bit. I did experience a little bit of tingling at first (pretty normal), but it subsided after a few uses. I generally wait until the solution soaks in (cue instagram) until my skin feels almost dry to the touch. After that, I follow up with my normal serums, oils, and moisturizers.

Results: I was actually pretty shocked at how well these retexturing pads worked! Even after my first 2-3 uses, I noticed a significant change in my skin's texture. My skin felt baby soft and so smooth to the touch. The best part? My skin was positively glowing. As a former oily skin girl, I have a hard time appreciating the 'dewey skin' look. But these C+A pads give me radiant skin, minus the oily finish.

In the first week or so, I did notice a couple little bumps or small breakouts appear. My skin was getting exfoliated a lot more than it was used to, which meant it was bringing any sneaky breakouts to the surface of my skin. Those bumps were very manageable, and usually went away after a day or so (especially if I used my Glossier Super Pure serum on top).

Hyper-pigmentation has always been a huge issue for me. Even the tiniest little blemish leaves an unsightly dark spot due to my skin overloading on melanin. I don't mind having freckles... But having a constant reminder of a zit that once was? No thanks. The Glycolic Acid in the C+A Pads really helps lighten some of my past acne scars. It also speeds up the healing process after a breakout. My skin's tone generally looks a lot more even, and it bounces back from any blemishes pretty quickly!

Do I recommend this product? Yes x 1000. After having used this product consistently for 2-3 weeks, I can safely say that it has become a staple in my skincare routine. Not acne-prone? (Lucky you) Cane + Austen offers other types of treatment pads with different intensities of Glycolic Acid. These treatment pads are so easy - all it takes is a few swipes to get your maximum glow!

Extra Notes: If you have sensitive skin, make sure to let your skin get used to these acids by building them up slowly into your routine. Maybe start using them 1x/day or every other day. Make sure to load up on SPF while you use these treatment pads! Paraben and fragrance free!
